Woodland Wayer 2018 group out collecting materials for atlatl darts

Would you like to work for a small independent team, at the forefront of Wilderness Bushcraft & Survival Skills training? As well as providing incredible customer service in our information and retail space.

Here you will not be a contractor on an ad-hoc basis, you will be full time employed, with the job security that this provides.

NOW CLOSED

Based in Rowsley Derbyshire but with travel expected to teach in Derbyshire, Oxfordshire, East Lothian, Bedfordshire and global travel we are asking can you think for yourself? Work as part of a truly dedicated team? Work in isolation at times? Not care if your grama or speling is incorrect in an advert as long as the customer gets what they want. 😉

If you can, we can provide you with a career that most can only dream of.

When you work with us, you do not work for Woodland Ways… you ARE Woodland Ways.

You can expect to be working in the main with adults, learning to instruct to the highest level. Some work with children is included as well as some office and retail work. We pride ourselves on being a one stop shop with professional course provision, kit provision, and knowledge provision… none of which work in isolation.

We are looking for a unique individual who wishes to pursue a long career with us, assisting us to push our business to be the market leader in UK based adult Bushcraft Course provision. As well as assisting us in the retail of bushcraft equipment, both online and in store.

You will spend 50% of the time learning how to teach, ultimately delivering courses, with the other 50% of the time conducting the administration required to operate courses and retail equipment. Upon successful attainment of your instructor’s shirt, you can then expect to be trained in some of the remote areas of the world, from East and South Africa to the wilds of Sweden, Yukon territories and more.

As a trainee full time instructor/or full-time instructor depending on your experience you can expect to be in the woodlands around the UK every other weekend, with the proceeding weekend in our offices/retail store. You will need to be able to head away on expeditions for sometimes 20+ days continually. Hey, if you have somewhere you wish to travel too, we even let you design your own expeditions with our full support and expertise to back you up.

NOW CLOSED

When not on courses you will be based from our Offices and Retail base in Rowsley, Derbyshire. We have few visitors, but the few people that do arrive deserve the very best of care and your full attention. Would you enjoy making a cup of tea and talking to that customer about our stock for an hour or more. We’re not interested in selling lots of stuff quick, we are interested in selling the right equipment to the right person. You will also benefit from a working office environment with very skilled instructors who all share the same ambition, to grow Woodland Ways.

The core operating hours of The World of Bushcraft Centre offices are 09:30-17:00, our courses run at ad-hoc times, so you need to be flexible, but we envisage your working week will be Wednesday to Sunday each week (excluding expeditions), 37.5 hours a week (these hours may be condensed to 4 days a week when running courses).

NOW CLOSED

Salary is negotiable between £16,500 and £20,000 depending on experience – if you feel you deserve more, then demonstrate to us why. Further perks include, well, you will be working with Woodland Ways! Fantastic kit to complement your uniform, lots and lots of access to training, and a boss that will put you first every time.

To apply for this position please submit your CV for the attention of Barry our Head of Courses, to info@woodland-ways.co.uk. Make it a good CV, due to the naturally high volume of applications be clever, if CVs aren’t your thing then surprise us… send us a video or something… did you know our longest serving full time instructor just turned up with a crate of beer and said “I want to work with you!”, he got the job. We want someone special, happy in the woods, happy in front of a computer… and happy to be wondering how on earth they ended up in the jungle leading a group of people… Tell us why you are the right person for Woodland Ways.

Selection will take place on the 22nd of June so you have plenty of time to come up with an application (we’re out running an expedition in the Yukon territories in the meantime… who knows next year you may be!).

NOW CLOSED

Successful candidates will be invited for interview on 19th July 2022.

Experience:
We are an inclusive employer working to remove barriers to access to all levels of the business. If you have masses of instructing experience already… talk to us, but also if you feel you could make the grade but never had the chance to shine, we are interested in supporting you. As long as you can drive, and have an interest in the subject of teaching Wilderness Bushcraft Skills. If you’re prepared to spend a long time away from home, learn to fail, learn to fail again, happy no matter what the weather, are computer literate and know your oak from your ash we want to hear from you. If not then please stay in your comfort zone. We cannot wait to have the right person on board.
